November 22, 1956Launch of Sylvania at John Brown & Co
June, 1957Delivery to Cunard Line. On June 5, Sylvania departs Greenock on her maiden liner voyage to Montreal, Canada. From 1957 to 1967 she operates a regular liner service between Liverpool and Montreal during summer, and Liverpool to New York in winter. She is occasionally used for cruises
1967Painted all white, Sylvania is exclusively employed on cruises for Cunard Line
December, 1967Sylvania and her sister Carinthia are laid up in Southampton and put up for sale
February 2, 1968Sold to Sitmar Cruises and renamed Fairwind. The ship remained in lay-up in Southampton
January 14, 1970Arrival in Triest, Italy where Fairwind is converted to full-time cruise ship
January, 1971First cruise for Sitmar Cruises. The ship now measures 21,895 gross tons and carries 906 passengers in 481 cabins. Fairwind is employed on cruises from the US east and west coast
1988Renamed Sitmar Fairwind
September 1, 1988After the sale of Sitmar Cruises to Princess Cruises, Sitmar Fairwind is transferred to the P&O Princess fleet and renamed Dawn Princess
1993Dawn Princess is sold to V-Ships, charted to German operator Phoenix Reisen and renamed Albatros. On August 18, 1993 she embarks on her first cruise to the North Cape from Bremerhaven, Germany
May 22, 1995During a Red Sea cruise fire breaks out in the engine room. Albatros sent to Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven for repairs and re-enters service on July 30, 1995
May 16, 1997Albatros runs aground at the Isles of Scilly, United Kingdom resulting in a 61 m (200 ft) gash in her hull. The heavily listing ship is sent to A&P Shipyard in Southampton for repairs and re-enters service in July
November, 2003Albatros suffers from engine problems and is sold for scrap to India. Renamed Genoa, she arrives at Alang on January, 2004
