About Zaandam

After ordering their new flagships Rotterdam and Amsterdam from Fincantieri in Italy, Holland America ordered another two sisters who are instant recognizable by their funnel. Instead of the twin slender funnels of the older sisters (as tribute to the 1950-s flagship Rotterdam), Zaandam and Volendam have single funnels. Zaandam entered service in 2000 and is a mid-sized ship accommodating some 1,440 passengers and 647 crew. These days, she divides her time between Alaska and South America.
