Celebrity Eclipse and Celebrity Equinox at Lisbon, Portugal

Cruise & Maritime Discovery at Lisbon, Portugal
May 21, 2010 - The Princess liners Pacific Princess and Island Princess were the stars of the hit TV series "The Love Boat". This photo shows the former Island Princess as Discovery. Built in 1971 as Island Venture, she spent most of her career in the Princess fleet until sold for service from South Korea as Hyundai Pungak,. She returned to Europe in 2002 as Discovery, carrying mainly British passengers for Voyages of Discovery and later Cruise & Maritime. Virtually unchanged after more than forty years of service, the ship was sold for scrap in 2014.
P&O Cruises Britannia at Lisbon, Portugal
Looking like she is not going to fit underneath Lisbon's Ponte 25 de Abril bridge is P&O Cruises' 143,730 ton Britannia. The twin funneled ship is a closely resembling the Royal Princess class of sister company Princess Cruises. Britannia entered service in 2015 and carries a maximum of 4,372 passengers.
Portuscale Cruises Funchal at Lisbon, Portugal
April 19, 2014 - This article would not be complete without a look at the classic Funchal. She was built in Denmark in 1961 for Lisbon-based Empresa Insulana de Navegaēćo and was first employed on the Azores - Madeira - Lisbon service. In the winter of 1972/73 she was rebuilt as cruise ship and entered service for Cia. Portuguesa des Transportes Maritimos. She changed hands a few times until finding a niche spot in the ageing fleet of Classic International Cruises. After the demise of Classic International Cruises, she was snapped up by newly formed Portuscale Cruises and rebuilt but only sailed on a few cruises. She was laid up in Lisbon in early 2015 and is now awaiting her fate.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Anthem of the Seas at Lisbon, Portugal
August 26, 2015 - Royal Caribbean caused quite a stir when they introduced the 168,666 ton Quantum of the Seas in 2014. A superb example of contemporary cruise ship design, Quantum of the Seas and her sisters serve as "now" ships with all the qualities to open up new markets for Royal Caribbean. This photos shows the second ship in the series, Anthem of the Seas, which entered service in 2015 and was employed on cruises from Southampton, United Kingdom in her first summer season.
Crystal Cruises Crystal Serenity at Lisbon, Portugal
September 7, 2013 - Looking immaculate as always, Crystal Serenity is seen leaving Lisbon om a sunny September day. One unique feature of Crystal Serenity is its gorgeous wrap-around Promenade Deck that is unobstructed by life boats. Measuring 68,870 tons, Crystal Serenity only carries 1,070 guests making her one of the most spacious cruise ships afloat.
Cunard Line cruise ship Queen Victoria at Lisbon, Portugal
May 13, 2016 - A great photo of Joćo Loureiro's favorite cruise ship. Queen Victoria is seen sailing down the Tagus River. Built in 2007, she is a modified version of Holland America's Vista Class ships.
Holland America Line cruise ship Rotterdam at Lisbon, Portugal
April 24, 2015 - Lisbon is a very popular port of call for cruise ships and looking at this photo it is clear why. Pictured with the illuminated Cristo Rei statue is Holland America Line's beautiful Rotterdam. A few weeks after Joćo Loureiro took this photo, I visited the Rotterdam in her home port of Rotterdam, Netherlands. The report and photos of that visit can be found here.
Portuscale Cruises ships Porto and Lisboa at at Lisbon, Portugal
September 2, 2014 - A rather sad picture of two beautiful classic liners awaiting their fate. Shown laid up at Lisbon are Portuscale Cruises' 1965 built Porto and the larger 1954 built Lisboa. Lisboa was sold for scrap in early 2015, but Porto, heavily rebuilt by her current owners, remains idle at Lisbon awaiting employment.
Saga Cruises Saga Ruby at Lisbon, Portugal
September 16, 2010 - Another classic liner. The beautiful Saga Ruby entered service in 1973 as Vistafjord for Norwegian America Line and was later snapped up by Cunard who renamed her Caronia. In 2005, she became Saga Cruises' Saga Ruby, remaining very popular amongst her traditional UK based passenger base. Her career at Saga Cruises lasted 9 years. Now named Oasia, the ship is supposedly used as a hotel ship in the Far East.

Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Epic at Lisbon, Portugal
September 23, 2015 - Joćo captured the maiden arrival of Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Epic on a sunny day in late September of 2015. The ship returned to the Mediterranean after an overhaul at the Damen shipyard in Brest, France.

Holland America Line cruise ship Koningsdam at Lisbon, Portugal
May 14, 2016 - the largest Holland America Line ship ever built is the 99,836 ton Koningsdam. As with all Holland America Line ships, this ship manages to look proud and powerful, like an ocean liner rather than cruise ship. Viking Ocean Cruises Viking Star at Lisbon, Portugal
May 7, 2015 - A recent newcomer in the global cruise business is Viking Ocean Cruises. After the mind boggling expansion on Europe's rivers, the company's founder Torstein Hagen turned to the ocean and ordered six identical cruise ships. The introduction of Viking Star showed the line's ability to cater to the needs of their guests and offer a product that combines some of the best aspects of other cruise lines, plus some brand new features.
